Update: Writing is Still Work

I am nearly done with editing my books. Re-editing. Taking out what typos I can and setting them up on D2D so they can be bought on websites other than Amazon.
Why bother?
Because at some point, the pity well runs dry. People get sick quickly, remarkably quickly, of being asked to fork over for something that is subpar but 'supports the cause' or 'is nice.' It gives me sympathy for the medieval relic sellers. It's easier to finagle money out of people if you are promising something in return for the money to repair a church roof, so they fake up a magic trick to add to their begging routine. Long term, if you want people to remember you for more than a day, you have to be something other than pathetic.
So, I'm doing a copyedit pass on my books before they go out. They will look like real books, even on Amazon. I have three and a quarter books to go, and then perhaps there will be two new ones for the funsies.
