Pausing to Breathe Before I Revise (or decide if it is salvageable)
I finished the story, topping out at 128,000 words. The ending I think should be turned into a trial, and I want to rewrite that before I get to all the other things that really need fixing. I want to print the whole thing and read it over before I try to start anything radical.
I don't know how it will work out. Do I want to attack it? How am I going to deal with this? 'The Crimes of Arunder' is hopelessly complicated and ridiculously thematic. The timeline is weird and might need work. Bug.
Right now, I'm writing a new mystery that I'm keeping simple. I hope it will clear cobwebs from my brain and be fun.
I might have to do some deep thinking about how a medieval person views crime and nationhood.
