It Is That Time Of Year Again
That's right. It's the time when Smashwords, the bookselling site for self-pub folks, makes cheap ebooks even cheaper for you, our dear readers.
This sale is from December 8, 2025 - January 1, 2026. What that means is that you will be able to buy selected ebooks from that website for incredibly cheap, possibly even for free. It's an excellent way to support small-time writers, sample new book series and genres, and to keep a delightfully bookish website going.
This year, my ebooks 'A Wasted Death,' 'Foxes In The Royal Hen House,' 'Toward A Hybrid Joy,' and 'What Hides Below' will be half off on Smashwords. Smashwords – The Wolfsburg Adventures
A quick reminder of which of my books are so you know if you are interested:
In 'What Hides Below,' a silver mine suffers a flash flood that kills a young miner (a minor miner, you might say.) The owners and landlord are at loggerheads over the cause of the flood. Was it an accident? Was it caused by an infestation of kobolds? Did someone do something dastardly? Karl, Bigitte and Bigitte's daughter, Jutta, put their heads together to find out what happened and get the silver-mining industry of Augston back on its feet. https://books2read.com/u/b6X15A
In 'Foxes In The Royal Hen House,' Augston is leaderless because they elect their kings and all the eligible princes are under ten. The mother of two of the princes, Princess Isabella, wants the Augstonian lords to pull together a council of regents to govern until the boys are of ruling age. However, Landgrave Reichert of Serrick (snob, boo, hiss) wants to be sole regent (and will probably try to become king. Again, boo. Hiss.) To convince Augston's ruling class of her plan, Princess Isabella holds a costume party for Epiphany. Under the guise of this costume party, her head guard is murdered, and a stranger breaks into her palace (that is suspiciously well-policed.) Princess Isabella confesses to our heroes that her castle has been sabotaged, and she fears that someone is trying to kidnap her. On top of this, both Karl and Eric are hiding Something. Will Brynhild, Karl, Bigitte, and Alfred be able to rescue Isabella and the country? https://books2read.com/u/4Dagvg
In 'Toward A Hybrid Joy,' rinderpest has killed Augston's cows. In a country that relies heavily on dairy products, especially the lower classes in winter, this spells both economic and personal disaster. Brynhild leaps to help her suffering neighbors by contacting an old friend from Luronia about buying some yak-cow hybrids. The main idea is that these sturdy beasts will re-start their dairy industry, but obstacles arise. A yak is murdered, and the herd suffers loss after loss. In the meantime, a cousin of Brynhild's late husband is threatening to take over her port for his own foul purposes (he has already run his fief into the ground financially,) and he will use her investment in the foreign herd against her in his campaign. Will Augston ever taste butter again? Can Brynhild keep her port safe from Duke Helmut's greedy grasp? https://books2read.com/u/mq2zOv
In 'A Wasted Death,' a stranger is murdered and dumped in the trash heap behind Meiser's non-port inn. No one is certain who he is or how long he has been there. Karl, Bigitte, and Alfred show up just in time to help Brynhild solve this crime and prove once more that Meiser is a safe place for all. https://books2read.com/u/bzxQYn
Most of my ebooks on Smashwords are $5.00 now, so starting December 8, they will be $2.50 for almost a whole month. If you wanted to just check out the main idea of the series, have a quick adventure in Augston for cheap, or think your mystery-loving buddy could use an ebook for Christmas, you have a golden opportunity to act on your impulse.
